J-Day Spring 2010

J-Day (Journalism Day) at Lyndon provides high school students who are interested in journalism and convergence media an opportunity to get together with students from other high schools, show off their work, and learn new skills. Students and their teachers/advisors from all over Vermont and northern New Hampshire are invited to participate.

Keynote Speaker

Leon Thompson, 1996 graduate of Lyndon, humor columnist for the St. Albans Messenger, and author of "Not Too Awful Bad: A Storyteller's Guide to Vermont."

Workshops

  • Newswriting: Gordon Robison, former Baghdad bureau chief, Fox News
  • Online Journalism: Charlotte Albright, Lyndon faculty; Vermont Public Radio contributor
  • Interviewing: Tom Kearney, managing editor, Stowe Reporter
  • Broadcast News Photography: David Ballou, chair, Lyndon Television Studies Department
  • Public Relations: Dan Williams, Lyndon faculty; advisor, Critic newspaper
