Dr. Keith Martin, MP Canadian Parliament

Title of presentation: North American Universities as Agents for International Change in the 21st Century
Dr. Martin is a former emergency room physician, turned Canadian members of Parliament. He has had a lengthy career promoting healthcare initiatives in Canada and Africa, perhaps most notably as founder of the Canadian Physicians Overseas Programme. He is currently working on developing Centres for International Health and Development or CIHDs, University sponsored organizations placed in developing countries geared towards promoting economic development and the general health of the citizenry. Dr. Martin will discuss CIHDs and how they can play an important role in the development of human capital in places around the globe where it is most needed.
March 25-26: Dr. David J. Plazek will be attending the Annual Conference of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. The subject of this year's conference in "Canadian Water: Towards a New Strategy". As usual, LSC students interested in attending should contact Dr. Plazek.
April 23-24: Dr. David J. Plazek will be the discussant at the Canadian Politics section at the New England Political Science Association's Annual Conference in Newport, Rhode Island.
