Upward Bound: Summer Program

Upward Bound at Lyndon State College had a very productive summer in 2008. Our students:

 

- Were offered over 25 college preparatory classes and electives to enrich their academic experience
- Had the opportunity to tour 10 different college campuses
- Had an all program trip to Maine to go white water rafting on the Dead River and tour Thomas College and University of Maine at Farmington
- Participated in Upward Bound Olympics
- Attended the annual Upward Bound Get Together at SUNY-Plattsburgh with over 350 other Upward Bound Students
- Spent a day with the world famous Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover for Stilt Walking and other activities
- 30 students took a trip to Salem. Massachusetts to visit the Phillips Memorial Foundation and Museum and the Peabody Essex and Salem Witch Museums
- took a complete SAT or PSAT, scoring above the state and national average
- had summer internships at local businesses
- Provided almost 3300 hours of community service
- Created a UB Summer Video which they authored, produced and directed.
