H1N1 Flu Announcement: May 1, 2009

Notice for May 1, 2009

Members of the Lyndon Community

There have been no probable or confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) reported in Vermont as of April 30, 2009.

As the Vermont Department of Health continues to monitor outbreaks of H1N1 Flu, Lyndon State College encourages all students who have flu-like symptoms to call the Health and Counseling Center (Brown House) at ext. 6440.

H1N1 flu signs and symptoms have consisted of influenza-like illness including sudden onset of fever, plus cough or sore throat.

Based on the CDC’s elevated pandemic risk alert, the Lyndon Emergency Response Team is meeting as needed to assess any new developments that may affect students, faculty and staff. There are still no plans to change course schedules, exams, or other activities. Please stay tuned to your e-mail, Blackboard, or the Lyndon website for updates.

Please continue to take the following precautions:

• Wash your hands often and well.
• Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then throw it away.
• Stay home from work or school and away from others if you are sick.
• Students: Please call or stop by the Brown House (ext. 6440) if you have symptoms as described above.
