H1N1 Flu Announcement: May 6, 2009

Notice for May 6, 2009

Members of the LSC Community

There are still no probable or confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) reported in Vermont as of May 5, 2009.

The Vermont Department of Health continues to test clinical samples and has found no evidence of the virus in Vermont to date. Lyndon State College still urges any student who has flu-like symptoms to call the Health and Counseling Center (Brown House) at ext. 6440.

H1N1 flu signs and symptoms have consisted of influenza-like illness including sudden onset of fever, plus cough or sore throat.

The Lyndon Emergency Response Team will continue to meet as necessary to assess any new developments that may affect students, faculty and staff. There are still no plans to change course schedules, exams, or other activities. Please stay tuned to your e-mail, Blackboard, or the LSC website for updates.

Please continue to take the following precautions:

• Wash your hands often and well.
• Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then throw it away. • Stay home from work or school and away from others if you are sick.
• Students: Please call or stop by the Brown House (ext. 6440) if you have symptoms as described above.
