Applying to Lyndon as a Transfer Student

All transfer students complete and submit the same application as first-year students.

  • The application may be submitted:
    • Online ($25 fee)
    • Paper ($38)

Required Credentials

Transfer applicants must present with their application:

  • Official transcript(s) from ALL colleges previously attended
  • An official high school transcript, if you have not received a bachelor’s degree
  • One letter of recommendation (required only if you are transferring less than 15 credits)

Credit Evaluations

During the application process, the Office of Admissions and the Office of the Registrar will attempt to provide transfer students with an approximation of courses that may transfer into Lyndon. However, a formal and final transfer evaluation cannot be completed until the student has submitted their tuition deposit.

  • An official transfer credit evaluation can only be done with official transcripts mailed to Lyndon directly from the institution
  • For SOAR registration advising purposes, official transcripts must be provided to admissions up to two weeks prior to the SOAR session the student plans to attend

Placement Testing

The determination about whether or not a transfer student must take writing and/or math placement tests is determined by the Office of the Registrar upon receipt of final transcripts from all colleges previously attended.

Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR)

All incoming students must participate in an orientation and registration program that is appropriate for their level of study. Students must arrange to spend all day at Lyndon on the day(s) of their SOAR program.

  • Transfer students with fewer than 45 credits:
    • Must attend the entire SOAR program
  • Transfer students with 45-60 transferable credits or who have spent more than two years at another college or university:
    • Only required to attend the second day of the SOAR program
    • In this program, students attend a series of workshops that will provide all of the necessary information to matriculating at Lyndon as a transfer student

  • Over 60 credits:
    • Not required to attend a SOAR session
    • For academic advising, these students schedule an appointment through the First-Year Experience office

Housing

Both on-campus and off-campus housing options are available to transfer students.

Transfer students are not required to live on campus if they:

  • Are 24+ years of age
  • Have junior academic standing
  • Are a graduate of an approved high school and will be commuting from their legal residence in that school district
  • Have custody of their children

To requestion on-campus housing:

  • Step 1:  Submit the housing deposit of $100 via e-Billing or by check
  • Step 2:  Complete and submit the housing application
  • Step 3:  Complete and submit the housing contract

Childcare for Children of First-Year, Transfer, and Non-Traditional Students

Lyndon does not provide childcare; however, there are many childcare facilities in the area that support the needs of parents who work or attend college.

An excellent first step in finding childcare in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is Kingdom Child Care Connection (KCCC).  Kingdom Child Care Connection is funded through the Child Development Division of the Vermont Department for Children and Families.
