4th Annual NEK Veterans Summit
The 2016 NEK Veterans Summit will be held March 12, 2016 at Lyndon State College. The purpose of the summit is to bring veterans, their families, and veteran service organizations together to build relationships, stronger connections, and an enhanced regional support network in Vermont and Northern New Hampshire.
Tentative Schedule of Events
Saturday, March 12th
8am – 9am: Summit check-in and hot breakfast buffet
9am – 10:30am: Opening remarks and welcome from Thom Anderson and VSC Chancellor Jeb Spaulding. Keynote address by Jon Turner, Vermont Veterans Farmer Coalition, with special guest appearances from Anthony Droz and Earl Granville of the Veterans Expeditionary Team
10:30am – 12:00pm: Exhibitor booths and morning breakout sessions for women veterans, suicide prevention, PTSD and the family, and Veteran Camaraderie
12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch
1:00pm – 1:25pm: Summit Address by Director Alfred Montoya of the White River Junction VA Medical Center
2:00pm – 3:00pm: Afternoon breakout sessions for veterans benefits, latest research on PTSD and TBI, student veterans, employment opportunities for veterans, and entrepreneurship and business planning
Later that afternoon, head up to the 3rd Annual Ian Muller Rail Jam at Q Burke Mountain Resort from 3:30pm – 9pm!
-Ski & snowboard competitions
-Presentation of the annual Ian Muller Memorial scholarship
Sunday, March 13
9:00am – 4:00om: Enjoy a day on the slopes at Q Burke, with free lift tickets for all veterans and their immediate family members (proof of service required).
For Friday March 11 and Saturday March 12, The Q Burke Mountain Resort is offering a “stay and ski” package at a discounted rate for anyone attending the Summit. The new luxury Hotel has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, fitness center, free Wi-Fi, valet parking, and a bar and restaurant. There is a two-night minimum with rates starting from $148 to $213 per night. To make reservations, please contact the Q Burke Mountain Resort reservation desk at 866-966-4820 and mention the Summit.
