Jun 1 | Hospitality Department Trainer (Burlington)

This train- the- trainer program teaches department managers how to prepare and create staff trainings, communicate effectively  as an instructor, and provide feedback in on-the –job training situations. The best practices shared in this course prepare managers to understand how adults learn and present information in an actionable and engaging way. Aimed at up-and coming- department trainer, this training gives confidence to managers who have taken on the additional responsibility of training others.

The IMBA Instructor Certification Program (ICP) offers professional training and certification for individuals who lead group rides or teach mountain bike skills clinics. With the ICP, IMBA is building on proven, successful methods nearly two decades in development, and aims to establish a global standard for mountain bike skills instructor training.


Jul 11 | Ethnocuisine

Explore the complex roles of food from an anthropological perspective. Food is a universal aspect of the human experience with specific cultural, symbolic, economic, and historical corollaries.  Review the ethics and implications of food and illustrate how the peasant food of Third World nations and hunter/gatherer cuisine is far superior to a fast-food diet. Assignments include preparing a variety of food in your own kitchen from produce you buy locally in your region.

Jul 19 | Single Pitch Instruction Class and Assessment

The Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) course teaches climbing instructors to proficiently facilitate and instruct the sport of rock climbing in a single pitch setting. The SPI is the only internationally recognized single pitch climbing instructor certification program* in the United States. It was developed to fit in the AMGA Rock program. The program is for current, active rock climbers who have a real desire to teach rock climbing in a single pitch setting.

Certiport Testing Center

Vermont’s Only Public Certiport Testing Center for Microsoft, Intuit, and Adobe Certification

Lyndon State College is a Certiport Authorized Testing Centers, able to offer exams in the Microsoft products and Intuit QuickBooks. Certiport delivers certification exams through a specialized, worldwide network of 12,000 Certiport Authorized Testing Centers. Centers are uniquely positioned to provide the highest level of reliable, performance-based testing.

A $15 proctor fee per exam applies and is a separate charge from the Certiport fee.


Pearson Vue Testing Center

The Lyndon State College Center for Professional Studies hosts an authorized Pearson VUE testing center.  Pearson VUE is the leading provider of global computer-based testing solutions for information technologies, academic, government, and professional testing programs.

Lyndon State College partners with Pearson VUE to provide our students and members of the community access to hundreds of academic and industry-recognized exams to test candidates pursuing key industry certifications from leading programs. Exam options span professional licensure and certification exams such as Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist (CHTS), National Strength and Conditioning Association, and  North Eastern Joint Apprenticeship & Training (NEAT), as well as information technology exams like Cisco, CompTIA, EMC, HP, LPI, Oracle and VMware.

Exams may be purchased and scheduled directly on the Pearson Vue website. The exam center is open on Mondays from 9am to 5pm or by special appointment that can be set up calling the Center for Professional Studies. Contact the Director at (802) 626-4867 or  Proctor fees for tests offered through Pearson Vue are included when registering on the Pearson Vue website.
