Straight talk about the cost of a college education.

There is no denying that the cost of a college education has risen far more quickly than students and parents would like. As an institution whose mission is closely tied to providing opportunity to students—some of who might not otherwise be able to attend college—it is of great concern to us as well.

At the same time, all evidence suggests a college education has never been more important to success in life and in your career. We live in a knowledge economy.

Where do we stand?

Lyndon State College in-state tuition is among the lowest of all residential four year Vermont colleges. We have significant discounts for qualified students from New Hampshire and most of New York state. We also have an unusually large number of NEBHE-eligible programs that afford New Englanders a $6,000 savings in normal out-of-state tuition. For many of these students, a Vermont education can be comparable in cost to the in-state tuition they would pay at their own public college or university system.

When examining the tuition figures in this portion of the website, you should know that 85 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. Be assured that our admissions, financial aid, and student services staff work closely with each student to see to it they get every financial advantage they are qualified to receive.
