Great news! Lyndon State students have the opportunity to earn money while studying. If this sounds too good to be true, it isn’t: College Work Study is a federally funded program designed to enable students in need of financial help with educational costs. Work-Study is a need-based program.
Who Qualifies
The Financial Aid Office must have received your processed electronic Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 15 "on time" deadline. To ensure that Lyndon State receives the application "on time," we recommend that you mail your completed FAFSA to the processor no later than the first week in February. Students must reapply for financial aid every year. If we do receive your application "on time" your eligibility for work-study will be reviewed. Besides the "on time" requirement, there are four other qualifications in order to be awarded work-study:
- You must be enrolled at least 6 credits per semester.
- You must be working toward a degree at Lyndon State College.
- You must qualify on the basis of need (determined after FAFSA evaluation).
- You must be making satisfactory academic progress.
If selected, you must complete the verification process. Failure to turn in necessary documents when requested may result in loss of work-study eligibility. You will receive notification on whether or not you are eligible for work-study on your Financial Aid Award Letter. If your award package does not include a work-study amount, you are not eligible.
What Forms to Complete
Your work-study contract must be signed by both you and your supervisor before you are allowed to work. Also, if you have never worked under the work-study program at LSC, you must complete an I-9 and W-4 form with your supervisor or Financial Aid/Student Services.
