In Support of Lyndon State College…

The Lyndon State College Foundation was founded in 1980 to generate resources that contribute to the artistic, social, cultural, and educational development of Lyndon State College. As a community-based, private, nonprofit organization, the LSC Foundation is operated to receive, hold, invest and administer property, and to make expenditures to or for the benefit of the College and to provide funds for an annual scholarship at the College. Each year the LSC Foundation gives over $10,000 in scholarships to 10 or more students.

The LSC Foundation Board of Directors meets several times during the year and hold an annual meeting in January where the officers and new members are elected. A director of the Lyndon State College Foundation is expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the Foundation Board, serve actively on one or more Board committees, provides annual, special and capital support at levels that will inspire others to emulate that support, serves as an “ambassador” for the College, building community awareness and interest, and generating confidence in LSC’s leadership and direction; and is alert for opportunities to promote the goals and initiatives of the College.

The LSC Foundation traditionally hosts three fundraising/community events annually; an auction at the August or September at the LSC T.N. Vail Clambake, a raffle in December, and a 5K race during the Stars and Stripes festival in Lyndonville in July. The LSC Foundation originated the idea of Stars and Stripes and organized it for several years.

Mission

The Lyndon State College Foundation was founded in 1980 to generate resources that contribute to the artistic, social, cultural and educational development of Lyndon State College. As a community-based, private, nonprofit organization, it is operated to:

  • Receive, hold, invest and administer property, and to make expenditures to or for the benefit of the college.
  • Provide for funds for programs or services that contribute to the development of the college as a regional, social, educational and cultural community resource.

While the need for the Foundation was conceived within the college administration, it was undertaken, organized, and is maintained by residents of the Northeast Kingdom.

The activities of the Lyndon State College Foundation are to the mutual advantage of the college and the community. The members of the Foundation are committed to the college, proud of the excellent educational opportunities and community services offered, and dedicated to participate in Lyndon State College’s future development.
