NEK Community Orchestra in Concert

“Fan Favorites” Highlighted

April 27, 2015

LYNDON CTR., Vt.: The Northeast Kingdom Community Orchestra will present their spring concert, “Fan Favorites” on Sunday, May 3 in the Alexander Twilight Theatre on the Lyndon State College campus. The orchestra is under the direction of Janet Edmondson, an adjunct faculty member in Music and Performing Arts at Lyndon. The orchestra includes talented and dedicated musicians from throughout the Northeast Kingdom; middle school students through adults.

At last fall’s concert, the NEK Orchestra’s fans voted on the selections they’d like to hear in this spring concert. The votes were tabulated; the program showcases these choices. Works will include highlights from Dvorak’s “New World Symphony,” Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture,” Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera,” and an orchestral take on “Take Five.”

The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome; proceeds go to support the purchase of music and equipment for the orchestra. The Lecture and Arts Series is sponsored by Hayes Ford and Vermont Broadcast Associates. The Series is made possible in part by the Harriet M. Sherman Lecture Fund.
