Our Students at Work

“I wish I could have stayed longer. There were so many opportunities to gain experience working larger and larger events. The faculty showered us with their knowledge and demonstrated real concern and appreciation for MBI students.”

- John Plunkett '15, audio technician at WorldStage

Learning by doing is the cornerstone of a Lyndon education.

Outside the classroom, Music Business and Industry students have access to internship opportunities within the state of Vermont or as far away as New York City and Los Angeles. Students are given the opportunity to work one-on-one with industry experts, allowing students to jump-start their career prior to graduation with hands-on experience.

In recent years, Lyndon MBI students and grads have worked in internships like these:

  • Universal Music Group, New York, NY
  • Republic Records, New York, NY
  • Q-Division Studios/label, Boston, MA
  • Tisbury Tours (in support of James Taylor)
  • Bank Robber Music, New York, NY
  • Catamount Arts, St. Johnsbury, VT
  • Big D and the Kids Table (entire US Warped Tour)
  • The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
  • Vermont Symphony Orchestra
  • 99 Rock WFRD FM, Hanover, NH
  • Higher Ground, Burlington, VT
  • Sound:Still Pro AV, Thetford, VT
  • Side One Dummy records, Los Angeles, CA
  • Prosthetic Records, Los Angeles, CA
  • Parma Recordings, North Hampton, NH
  • Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Bonnaroo Festival Manchester, TN

“Lyndon's small size gave me a more creative and problem-solving based education than a larger 'Carrot and Stick' program may have. Working with the best gear is fun, but making the best with what you have, is far more educational.”

- Andrew Fahle '15, head of the audio department and lead systems engineer, Dark Star Lighting and Production, Vermont

“The MBI program is one big family. I gained so much hands-on experience in a supportive environment surrounded by people that ended up being my best friends. I experienced everything from performing at venues such as the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge and the Middle East Downstairs to helping coordinate larger scale events like GreggFest. Lyndon gave me the skill set necessary to be successful in all of these excursions and in any opportunity that comes in the future.”

- Michael Mahn '15, A&R and Marketing, Parma Recordings
