I Am Vermont Too: Interactive Presentation
Thursday, October 19, 2017 @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM in Burke Mountain Room
I Am Vermont Too focuses on the experiences of people of color throughout the state of Vermont. It challenges racial microaggressions and the racist acts and behaviors that often go unchecked. This event is an opportunity for dialogue and reflection for majority white communities who are unaware of the impact their racial microaggressions have on our community. Sponsored by Lyndon FAIR.

Sha’an Mouliert discusses how micro-aggressions affect people of color in Vermont: “Living in One of the Whitest States”
“How often have we heard ‘I’m not racist’ or ‘I have black friends’? Up until the last couple of years you’d hear ‘We have made so much progress, I don’t think racism is a problem anymore.’ This workshop will offer an opportunity to analyze and deconstruct some of the challenges facing people of color living in Vermont. Participants will engage in popular education activities intended to encourage and support the building of ongoing developmental capacities and skills needed to adequately address the issues.”
