Dr. Eden Haywood-Bird is an Assistant Professor of Education at Lyndon, having joined the faculty in the fall of 2014,  Prior to moving east, Dr. Haywood-Bird lived in Ft. Collins, CO where she was the Chair of Early Childhood and Education program at Colorado Community Colleges Online for nearly three years. Dr. Haywood-Bird has been in the field of education for 15 years, having taught children for most of this time.

Most recently, Dr. Haywood-Bird was a preK teacher for a non-profit STEM preschool. Dr Haywood-Bird holds both Elementary and Early Childhood Teaching License endorsements from Colorado. Dr Haywood-Bird earned a MA in Early Childhood Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado-Denver (2005) and a PhD in Education Leadership, Renewal and Change in Early Childhood from Colorado State University (2013).

Her research interests include: nature in education, social aspects of learning and development within preschool, teacher quality in early childhood, and STEM use in early childhood education.

In her spare time, Dr. Haywood-Bird enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the New England forests with partner and four children, supporting her children who are competitive Irish Dancers, running, knitting, and reading.
